In 1985, I was traveling through Tucumcari, NM and photographed this fabulously whimsical sign. Sadly, on my subsequent return, like so many of the signs I've photographed throughout the years, it had vanished. Back then I was shooting my signs on film in black and white and tragically I lost the box of negatives that had this image on it. On my recent trip to Las Vegas, thirty-six years after first photographing this sign in the Land of Enchantment, I found it kicking up its heels in downtown Sin City, where it now resides!
So happy to see my old friend and damn, does it look happy! Vegas seems to agree with that 'ol jackass!
